Greennova Foundation

Nonprofit organization engineering projects to fight against global warming, climate change, pollution and the other harmful effects that our actions cause to the Earth's health and to the species that live on it.

Greennova Mission - fight against global warming and climate change

Development and implementation of tools and solutions to mitigate and revert the negative consecuences that human activity generates to the Earth and its species.

Greennova - our plan to fight against global warming and climate change

Our Plan

Based on knowledge, transform the current situation into an opportunity to evolve society, creating technical solutions that generate benefits to be reverted back to our society and to the Planet.

Greennova - our vision and values

Vision and Values

Greennova Foundation acts according to these values: Honesty, Humility, Integrity, Cooperation, Sustainability, Innovation, Responsibility and Coherence, with the will to become a worldwide leading player.

Ongoing Projects

Greennova Foundation collaborates with universities and research centers in the development of its foundational purpose.

Climate change and global warming are mainly driven by our emissions, which increase carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. CAPTACO2 project, in collaboration with Rovira i Virgily University - Eurecat, consists on the design and industrialization of an atmospheric carbon dioxide capturing device in which CO2 gets trapped as a salt after going through a special membrane.

Greennova GRAFECO2 Project - Atmospheric CO2 capturing project to fight against climate change by using graphene structures

GRAFECO2 project, developed in collaboration with University of Barcelona - Faculty of Chemistry, investigates different ways graphene structures can be used to capture atmospheric CO2. Graphene will work as a carbon dioxide strainer, thus separating this greenhouse effect gas from the rest of atmospherical gases. GRAFECO2 project will also become a PhD thesis.

Greennova POLUSTOP Project - Clean microparticles out from the air we breathe

Pollution creates important health problems, even affecting child cognitive development. POLUSTOP project, in collaboration with Rovira i Virgily University - Eurecat, consists on the design and industrialization of a mobile pollution capturing device which filters the air, collecting its harmful components and particles on different membranes.

Future Projects

Albedo effect

Glacier melting reduces the albedo effect; the sun's incident rays are less reflected and so heat up more. We have to increase our cities reflectivity.

CO2 Conversion

Capturing CO2 and storing it doesn't seem as good as reusing it transformed into a useful product.

Synthetic palm oil

Synthetic palm oil would save the destruction of the habitat that still remains for orangutans and other species.

Heat reuse

Our activity needs lots of energy, a part of which is lost as heat. What if we could take advantage of it somehow?

Plastic cleaning and reuse

Our environment is full of fragments of different types of plastic, polluting and damaging the rest of the living beings. We have to remove them.

Why must we do something?

Human activity has caused, in three centuries only, effects comparable to those of other geological periods, which lasted thousands of years. These effects change the environment so quickly that adaptation of life through evolution is very difficult. If we do not remedy it, we will cause a massive extinction that will affect us as human beings.

Atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) increase

During millions of years, plancton, plants and trees, before becoming oil, gas or coal, have absorbed CO2. Less forests means less CO2 absorption capacity and the combustion of fossil fuels returns to the atmosphere the CO2 that had previously been absorbed.

The trend is accelerating

Earth's temperature increase

Greenhouse gases (GHG) such as CO2 retain the infrared radiation emitted by our planet. Thus the higher the GHG quantity, the higher the Earth's temperature. This temperature rise is already changing the climate, jeopardizing the conditions in which we have lived during many years.

Each year of the period 1977-2017 was warmer than the 20th century temperature average.

Melting glaciers

Chasing Ice documentary prove the accelerated glacier melting, which will cause a sea water level increase

Greennova - walls to stop migrations caused by climate change

People will move if there's a lack of water, or the area where they live is flooded

Greennova - hurricanes and cyclones reinforced by climate change cause important floodings

Meteorological phenomena

Sea water warming fuels big and harmful storms and hurricanes

As the IPCC argues, to reduce Earth's temperature the greenhouse effect must be weakened, thus greenhouse effect gases must be removed.

Video - Why must we remove CO2 from the atmosphere?

We have been burning coal, gas and oil during 150 years, emitting CO2. Apart from reducing we must clean. No time to wait.

Great Pacific garbagge patch

Where do the plastics thrown into the sea go? Oceanic currents accumulate them in specific areas, such as the GPGP. If they become microplastics, they are incorporated into the trophic chain when ingested by marine organisms.
